On the first day of your trip, you will be welcomed by our driver guide at the airport. After a warm welcome, we will take you on a city tour, which includes a visit to the Gisozi Genocide Memorial Centre and the women's handicraft market, among other exciting places. After lunch, we will proceed to Volcanoes National Park, northwest of Rwanda. The park is a two-hour drive from Kigali on a clean road. You will spend the night at your preferred lodge and enjoy a sumptuous dinner before resting.
On the second day of your trip, you will wake up early at 6:30 am and have breakfast before heading to the national park headquarters for a briefing on trekking. At 8:00 am, you will start hiking into the forest, led by an armed guide who will follow specific trails while searching for gorillas. Usually, it takes between 2-6 hours to find the gorillas. Once you find them, you can spend an hour in their presence, a 'magical hour' full of unforgettable memories as you watch the gorillas go about their daily routines. It's fascinating to note that gorillas share 98% of the human DNA.
While in the presence of the gorillas, it's essential to observe the gorilla trekking guidelines, including not getting too close and maintaining silence. You will be allowed to take photos of the gorillas, but without using flash cameras. After spending an hour in the presence of the gorillas, you will return to your lodge/hotel for lunch before transferring back to Kigali. Depending on your flight schedule, you will be transferred to the airport.
