Day 1: Arrive in Kigali, Rwanda:

Upon your arrival at the airport, our guide will warmly welcome you, provide a brief orientation, and transfer you to your hotel in Kigali town.

Day 2: City tour Kigali – Ruhengere:

Today, you will explore Kigali and visit two important places - the Genocide Museum and the Caplaki Crafts Center. This will take around 3-4 hours. After lunch, you will depart for Ruhengeri. The journey will take approximately two hours, and you will pass through the beautiful rolling hills of Rwanda until you reach the base of the Virunga Mountains. You will arrive at your lodge in the evening, where you can relax and prepare for the exciting day ahead.

Suppose you are interested in learning more about Rwanda's past. In that case, we also offer optional trips to the memorial sites of Murambi, Nyamata, Ntarama, Bisesero, Nyanza, and Nyarabuye, all connected to the genocide.

Once you arrive at the lodge, you can take some time to unwind and get ready for the next day's gorilla tracking adventure.

Day 3: Gorilla Tracking in Volcanoes National Park:

Today, you will embark on a gorilla trekking adventure in Volcanoes National Park, Rwanda. As you ascend the slopes of the Virungas, you will find yourself surrounded by the lush and dense rainforest, where you will hear the vibrant birdcalls and the playful squabbles of the golden monkeys. Eventually, you will reach the gorillas in their natural habitat and have the incredible opportunity to gaze into the eyes of these gentle giants. It's an experience that you will never forget.

In the afternoon, you can participate in the Ibyiwatu Cultural group performance, where you can learn more about Rwandan culture, music, dance, and drama while entertained. Alternatively, you can visit the twin lakes before returning to the lodge in the evening.

Day 4: Ruhengere – Bwindi (Northern sector):

After having breakfast, you will cross the border of Uganda via Cyanika and head towards the northern part of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, where you will spend two nights. This place is home to over half of the world’s mountain gorilla population, and interacting with these gentle giants is an experience that should not be missed. The ancient rainforest of Bwindi covers an area of 321 sq km and is home to 90 mammal species, including a range of primates and 23 Albertine Rift endemic bird species. After arriving at the lodge in the evening, you can prepare yourself for the gorilla tracking that will take place the next day.

Day 5: Gorilla Tracking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park:

Activities for the day include gorilla tracking and optional activities in the evening. In the morning, you will embark on a gorilla trekking adventure. The hike through the lush rainforest to find the gorillas in their natural habitat is an experience you will never forget. Please note that the trek time may vary as these are wild animals. In the afternoon, you can participate in a diverse range of activities unique to Bwindi, time permitting. Spend the evening relaxing, or choose from the optional activities below and enjoy your overnight stay at the lodge.

Optional activities:
Village Walk: Overlooking the imposing hillsides of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, Village Walk offers one of the most dramatic settings for your cultural tour. The mist swirling over the summits adds to the breathtaking view. During your tour, you will have the opportunity to meet a traditional healer who uses his knowledge to treat the sick and educate about the various medicinal plants, thus conserving them.

Batwa Trail: The Batwa Trail is a tour that provides an opportunity to learn about the indigenous people of Bwindi. The Batwa people, who were hunter-gatherers and skilled warriors, used to live in the dense forests at the foot of the Virunga Volcanoes. The forest was their source of shelter, food, and medicine, and they had ancient knowledge passed down from generation to generation. On this tour, you can explore their way of life and better understand their culture.

Day 6: Bwindi Impenetrable National Park – Kibale National Park:

After having breakfast, you will embark on a two-night journey to Kibale Forest, which spans over 795 sq km in Western Uganda. It is a rainforest home to thirteen primate species, such as chimpanzees, red colobus, and L’Hoest monkeys. Additionally, Kibale National Forest boasts over 355 bird species and other mammals, including the elusive forest elephant.

This morning, you will have a chance to go on a Chimpanzee tracking adventure along the network of forest trails. It is an exhilarating experience to witness habituated chimps squabbling and swinging from the trees. Later in the afternoon, you can visit the Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary, home to various bird species, vegetation, and wildlife. Visiting the sanctuary is also an opportunity to support local tourism initiatives contributing to the area's social and economic growth.
